I've looked forward to owning my own wheel
and kiln since the 80's. The first time I threw on a wheel I was hooked. Now that my children have moved off to college and I am no longer working, everything just fell into place. I enjoy electric kiln, Raku, wood, gas, pit, and barrel firing. Most of my pieces I would classify as functional, but once in a while go a little crazy with an artistic, organic piece. Lately I have spent some time with porcelain and learning about it's ups and downs(literally). I have also been working on mixing my own glazes, which involves a lot of measuring chemicals on the scales and seiving them into buckets. I am starting to build a nice glaze collection. Although clay, or mud as we call it, might seem to be a simple process, I'm finding everyday there is so much more to learn. This is what keeps me interested and striving to become a better potter. I currently work from my place in Bethel, Ohio and teach at a local artisan center.
Bob taught himself to carve in 2000, although whittling was always a way to pass the time. Bob is a member of NWCA & East Fork Wood Cavers. Owner of Minton's Bethel Glass Shop
